Dare to DIY 2014

I've decided to participate in the Dare to DIY series this year. I did this series a few years ago and had a blast coming up with creative projects...

Here are my projects from two years ago...
I loved going back and seeing these projects again!

The main organizers are:

Katja at Shift Ctrl Art
Michelle at Decor and the Dog.
Rachel at Maybe Matilda.

Here’s the plan:
Each Monday, the link party goes live for that week’s Dare to DIY challenge. You can link up as many projects as you wish, as long as the posts correspond with the theme of the week. You can link up on any of the four blogs listed above.
The linky will stay live through Wednesday. Later in the week, each of the organizers will spotlight at least 3 projects we loved from the week on their blogs. They will also pin those projects on a shared Pinterest board and even share them on Instagram (with the hashtag #daretodiy2o14)

The only rules:

1. Please follow the Dare to DIY theme of the week (see below).
2. Please link back to Dare to DIY on the host’s blog..
3. Please go to at least two other blogs and comment. This is a party. So get to know a few other bloggers.
And here are the themes – starting next week. Dare to do it, baby. Dare to do it.
Party Date: Monday, Nov. 24
Dare to… be thankful!
DIY a thanksgiving project to remind you to be grateful during this season. Ideas include a Thanksgiving advent calendar, artwork and banners.
Party Date: Monday, Dec. 1
Dare to… entertain!
DIY something for your table. This could be something from last wee’s Thanksgiving table or a new Christmas look. Get creative and use things in new ways. Or go true DIY and make something totally new. Ideas include place mats, table runners, place cards or centerpieces.
Party Date: Monday, Dec. 8
Dare to… give homemade gifts!
DIY a gift made by you. Nothing is more special to give than something you created, so share projects that will be go in brown paper packages this holiday season. Ideas include bath and body items, kitchen gifts, hand-sewn clothing or home decor.
Party Date: Monday, Dec. 15
Dare to… deck the halls!
DIY something new to deck your halls. Did you find something in a catalog that you wish you had? Wreaths, stockings, pillows or advent calendars? Make it! Inspire us all to do the same.

Happy Valentine's Day!

So I've totally failed in taking photos of our Valentine's Day decorations and I failed at taking a photo of Emma's finished Valentine... So big Valentine fail on this blog....

Here is what I do have to share...

Emma making her Valentines...

We decided to go with the Conversation Heart iPod.

Here are some in-process photos...

1. Cut Scrapbook paper to the size of the conversation heart boxes

As you can see from the below photo... it is important to taste the candy ahead of time... Someone Might have some evidence left on the corners of her mouth.

2. Tape the scrapbook paper around the conversation heart box.

3. Cut out the iPod scroll and playlist... The Disney site allows you to create your own candy play list or use one that they have created for you... We decided to use the Disney created list. The songs listed on the Candy iPod are:
  • All You Need is Love
  • I Want Candy
  • Happy Together
  • You've Got a Friend

4. (Here is where I became a slacker mom and stopped taking pictures...) Next cut bakers twine... Two strings per candy iPod. I tied the two stings together half way and at one end.

5. After tying all strings I hot glued the tied end to the iPod... and the other end with (two open strings...) each end was glued to DOVE Chocolate hearts... (these are the "Headphones")

DONE AND DONE...

Halloween 2012

I hope that all had a safe and fun Halloween last night! Here are some photos from our evening.

Emma trying on Hunter's hat

Our little Lobster

The hat was huge (as you can see since it fit Emma's head) and it kept falling in his eyes.

He was happier once we tucked the hat up

Emma pretending to eat the lobster

Our little Ninja

Do you see Dad Ninja in the background... Matt went all out with his costume this year.

Someone was unhappy to get in his car seat...

knock knock... surprising NaNa at her house

Matt creeping up to NaNa's window to try and scare her...

Just hanging out...

Hunter spent a majority of he evening asleep as we walked around

Sophie of course joined us

Happy family at the end of the night

Happy Halloween from the Park Family

Happy Halloween to all! Wanted to share some decorations from around our house and share photos of the pumpkin carving fun that we had last night!

Even Sophie wanted in on the fun... She loves pumpkin and kept trying to sneak pieces.

Emma originally wanted to carve both pumpkins herself but after completing the first one she decided she was done so I took over... I will share the final products tomorrow.

Now here are some decorations...

I have framed photos of Emma's past costumes that I pull out each year. These were taken at the annual Army Navy Country Club Halloween party. Last year Emma was Harry Potter (age 7) and the year before the whole family dressed up as the scooby gang (age 6).

Dinning room...

Tomorrow I will share some trick or treating photos! Cannot wait to share what Hunter will be!
