Last Minute Christmas Tour

It is Christmas Eve... The boys are napping, Gifts are wrapped, and cookies are baked for Santa. Our Cards aren't in the mail but that is okay because they are New Years cards!!! I planed my procrastination in advance... actually I'm just realistic.

So with all my free time I wanted to take the chance to share all of my Christmas decorations.

I'm obsessed with my new reindeer pillows

And this hurricane candle holder from target that I bought on super clearance. I  plan to incorporate it into our everyday decor.

The Nativity that my Grandmother painted has such a special place in my heart and Emma and I love unwrapping each piece and finding just the right spot for each one.

And THIS TREE that my hubby bought this year. LOVE LOVE LOVE I want to keep it up all year long.

If it didn't have the fake snow on it I would seriously try to justify having it up all year long.

Emma loves picking out a new nutcracker each year.

My silver tree in the dining room

Every year I get one of these silver sleigh bells

The Dining room table.. .not 100% complete as there are no plates and candles in the birch holders

Kitchen...

Basement hallway

Basement, kids, Christmas tree...

Nursery Diaries: Chapter 5 - FABRICS

It has been a hot second since my last Nursery Diaries post in fact the last one was before Gibson's arrival.

To catch up on the nursery progress here are the first few postings:

Chapter 1 - The Paint & The Plan
Chapter 2 - Adding the Rock
Chapter 3 - The Lighting
Chapter 4 - The Details

Now to talk fabrics...

Changing Pad covers... I was originally going to try to make the covers for Gibson's changing pad but reality set in and I realized it was not worth the time... I'm not good with elastic. So I hit up amazon and fount two great covers

Via - $13.49

Via - $15.95

I really like both of them and so does Gibson!!!

I also ordered gray jersey sheets from Amazon...

Via - $22.99 each
Round crib sheets are not something that you can just run out to Target or Buy Buy Baby for. I've been able to find them through Amazon, EBay, & etsy.

The curtains were purchased at Ikea on clearance (as they were being discontinued) for only $17.99 for two panels. I purchased two packages (4 panels) and hemmed the bottom to fit the needs of our windows.  They are the Lappljung Rand curtains

Now that they are sold out at IKEA you can find them on ebay but for around $50 for a package...

I think that the white, gray, & black in the curtains look great with our gray wall!!!

For the spot in the room that I utilize most frequently... the glider!

The glider was a gift from a family friend when I was preggers with Emma and it has gotten a lot of use with all three of my kiddos. While the olive color doesn't really fit in with the grays and yellows in Gibson's room I think that it works with the wooden crib.

To make the glider fit into the room more though I added the Gurli blanket from IKEA and two pillows...
The back square one was on clearance from Target for only $6.99 and the yellow zipper is the perfect pop for the room. The Valborg lumbar pillow in white and varying shades of grey was found at IKEA (only available on ebay now).

Here are all the fabrics that are currently incorporated in the room...
(We are still messing around with room layout... so it might not look exactly like this for much longer) and I need to remove the bunting from the top of the crib!

ANYWAY, there is a HUGE element still missing in the fabric department... THE BEDDING!

I've purchased the below fabrics to make the bedding (again it is hard to find good pre-made round crib bedding)

I'll be back with Chapter 6, in a few weeks, when I attempt to make the bedding for the crib (my mom has always made it in the past). Wish me luck!!!

It is in the details....

Even though Matt is not even officially out of the area... he leaves tonight straight from work... I've already been busy getting ready for my little weekend bathroom project.

I found this great mirror at Homegood for $79.99... I did not buy the fake flower!

I love that it has the cutouts so that you will be able to see the fabulous wall color behind...

Speaking of Paint colors:

WALL:
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

CEILING:
Totally Teal

here it is on a wall...

TRIM:
Swiss Coffee

All were purchased from Home Depot last night

I also purchased a few boxes of TILE... I'm still not 100% sold on doing this and I might just leave that part for Matt... But I went with this...

It actually brings in the swiss coffee and teal tones...

Tonight I plan on pulling up base boards, removing mirror, and one coat of paint...

Half Bath Reno Project

Now Matt doesn't know this but I plan to tackle a little home project while he is away this weekend (Running a Ragnar race)... He should not be too surprised because this is not the first time that I have taken on something while he was gone... Remember the Laundry room Makeover???

Well this weekend I'm going to try to renovate our little half bath in the basement. I do not have an appropriate photo of this bathroom because it is so TINY... but I did manage to find some photos that we took the night of our home inspection (three years ago) sadly not much has been done to the bathroom since we moved in... Just a nicer stainless steel trash can and soap dispenser...

Ewww look at that flooring.. NOT MY JAM! and the plain beige walls... BLAH...

Also not a fan of the oval mirror... Super cheep and too small for the space

I'm going to try to keep this a low budget project and I don't think that it should be too hard since the room that I'm working with is small.

Here are some images that I have found inspiration from...

LOVE the colors in the above photo as well as the mirrors! I am going to stop by homegoods on the way home to see what they have in stock.

I'm thinking same mustard/golden wall color as above with the blue/gray as the ceiling.

I'm also going to go with more substantial base and ceiling moldings.

For art work... I'm going to likely go with a grouping of insects... printed as an 8x10 and places in a larger frame with gray/navy mat.

 Via

I also want to add some type of storage behind the toilet but I'm not sold on what to do with that yet... Also thinking about flooring... Will I go aggressive and start a tile project (that would need to be completed over the next week) or do a put a band-aid on it and save that for later???

DIY Growth Chart

The second favorite thing that I made for Hunter is his Growth Chart!

Started with a piece of wood...

Broke out my water Based MINWAX in Coffee.

I applied the stain with an old white t-shirt.. below is after one coat... I did three total

After the stain was dry I carefully painted the sides of the board a lime green that I had used in Hunter's bathroom. I love the extra pop of color and personality that it adds to the piece.

Next I used a tape measure to mark every foot

Pleased Number stencils at the appropriate places and painted.

After that I got out my handy Sharpie Paint marker in Black and outlined the letters and marked each inch...

I love the outcome!!!

Only thing that I purchased specific to the project was the piece of wood for $6.00... everything else I had on hand.
