Living Room Sofa Update

So I wanted to give you all a little Living Room update now that Camden(That sis the name of our sofa) has been around for over a month...

As a re-cap, I purchased this sofa from Joss and Main. It was a 90" sofa that had an original retail price of $1695 but on the discounted furniture site for only $691. It seemed like too good of a deal to pass up and my fingers and toes were crossed that the gamble of purchasing a sofa on-line, sight unseen, paid off!

Well...

He looks really nice and he goes well with my AMAZING and super comfy chairs...

I love the color and the nail head detail...

HOWEVER.... the sofa is SUPER hard... I've been letting the boys jump on it in the hopes that it would loosen the stuffing... no luck yet...
My main beef with the sofa is that I feel like they MAJORLY cut some corners when making it... I'm a realistic mama of three and I KNOW at some point something is going to spill on this bad boy... and try as I might I will not be able to get the spot out... so I will need to flip a cushion...

OR NOT!!!

That's right people! The fabric does NOT cover the entire cushion!!!! The linen material ends and there is a black nylon fabric! It isn't something that I would have EVER thought to ask about! I just assumed that the fabric would be the same on all sides! NOT THE CASE.

Do I have regrets YES... but we are going to make the best out of the situation and live with the sofa for at least the next year and eventually we will invest in another sofa and I will move this one to our play room.

Lesson of the day folks... NEVER buy a sofa that you do not see in person first!!! I had a few people provide that same advice and well... I didn't listen!

A few other things that I hope to tackle in the next year in this room...
  • Updated entryway light
  • Paint
  • Updated curtains
  • Fireplace built out with a larger mantle
  • new coffee table  -- Want Matt to make me this!

A few years down the road... We plan to redo the floor in a darker/wider wood, updated larger floorboards, and stain beams to match the darker floors.

Scenes from our weekend

We had a pretty productive weekend in the Park household!

FIRST I would like to pass that I am now up to 1300 items purged from my household! HUGE accomplishment from the weekend!

We also, ripped out the current closet in the boy's bedroom. We purchased a ClosetMaid system from Home Depot... We still have a ways to go (Patching, Painting, assembling) but at least we have started and I hope to be done by next weekend. Thinking that we can tackle a little each night.

Gibson was highly amused by all of the activity surrounding the closet! AND speaking of Gibson he had a big weekend, in terms of development! He learned how to crawl safely down the steps and learned how to crawl on/off the sofa!

Matt cleaned and put together Hunter's new big boy 5 point harness Britax Car seats! We feel so blessed that we received these as a hand me down from my sister-in-law... this was a savings of over $500! There were two pieces that were missing but we were able to buy replacement parts from Britax for only $50. Once the parts come in Hunter will go into these and Gibson will go into the car seat that Hunter has been in... Flipped backwards of course.

Went to Emma's Soccer game!

We instituted a NO ELECTRONICS rule in the house this weekend, for the kiddos, and it was AMAZING! As a family we played games, Emma did a lot of bike riding, and just spent quality time TOGETHER. Emma even let Hunter touch her legos!

We purchased a sofa from Joss and Main! The Camden Sofa in Gray. She is big at 90" and we are so excited! My parents bought her for me as an early birthday gift! I'm a little on edge about buying a sofa that I've never sat on (something I said I would NEVER do) but the chance to get this $1695 sofa for only $691 was too good of a deal to pass up. Fingers crossed this gamble pays off!

The Sofa Search Begins...

Recently we welcomed two beautiful additions into our happy home:

Yes... I'm talking about those gorgeous chairs. I LOVE these chairs and I think that they are a perfect addition to our loving room... but there is only one problem... they do NOT match our light green sofa...

So, being the practical lady that I am... I have decided that we are going to invest in a new sofa!

Here are our requirements:
  • Under $1000
  • NOT white... We do have Three children here
  • Width of 81"
We will, of course, need to do some research in person but here are a few of the sofas that I'm currently mulling over.

Melody Sofa in Beach - $899... Color might be TOO light. This is the sofa that we currently have though!... In the green

Parker Sofa in Copper Cashmere - $699

Benny Sofa in Thunder - $899

Cameron Square in Platinum Gray Velvet- $899

Stockholm in Gray - $899
And of course I would find one outside of my budget...

Abbyson $1395

Thoughts???
