All you need is some J-O-Y!!

I've seen great DIY JOY letters all over the blogs this season and I decided to jump on the bandwagon !

I went to Paper Source last week to grab some of their cute new birch paper drinking straws

ADORABLE!

While I was in the store I spied some great uppercase craft letters for only $3.75 each and beautiful gold and cream wrapping paper for $6.00. I quickly added them to my basket and decided that I was going to make my own JOY letters for Christmas.

When I got home I gathered all of my supplies:
  •  The Letters and Paper that I had just purchased
  • Gold Paint
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brush... I buy these in bulk because I'm constantly using them for projects.

I carefully traced the letters onto the back of the paper...

Next I painted the letters with some antiqued gold paint. I did this step so that from the side the letters will match the paper that I would be adding to the front. It gives the project a finished look.

Cut my paper to size and brushed the Mod Podge onto the backs of the letters and attached. I let the letters stay this way overnight and the next morning I did two additional coats of Mod Podge over the fronts of the letters to make sure that they would stay.

The letters found a temporary home on a table near our door. You will see there final possition when we share our decorations next week!
