Happy Valentine's Day from the Park Boys

The boys were both VERY excited about Valentine's Day! They have been talking about it for the last two weeks and they wanted to do LOTS of crafting!

Since they both LOVE dinosaurs I picked out this super cute kit from Paper Source

It was great to see Hunter write his name on each dino and as I put on the name of each friend he took so much pride in decorating each one just for them! There was glue everywhere but it was worth it.

Gibson also enjoyed adding all of the individual hearts. The dinos are attached to a bag full of Valentine goodies! There is a pencil, heart eraser, Hershey kisses, lollipop, bubbles, and a mini rice crispy treat.

I was a crazy person on Sunday morning... Emma was sick and Matt wasn't feeling well either so I wanted him to sleep in... I thought that the boys wouldn't make a lot of noise if they were painting... of course the instant they started Lincoln woke up and needed to eat. There I was sitting on craft paper, nursing, and surrounded by two crazy boys with paint! It was high stress trying to make sure that paint didn't get everywhere and helping to clean off brushes and pass different paint colors. In the end it all turned out okay and all kids had a blast and thank goodness the paint was washable!

For their teachers, the boys made little ring bowls out of play-doh and we heated it, slowly, in the oven to harden. We put them in little Valentine boxes that we found at the dollar store.

I tried to get Emma to do a Valentine but she is "over it"... she did however help with some of the crafting when it came to the boys.

Hunter is FOUR!!!

I cannot believe that my little guy is FOUR today! time has just flown by!

It seems like we were bringing him home from the hospital just a few months ago!

I was lucky enough to be home this morning to get the little man up, Surprise him with yummy Birthday pancakes, and take him to school. I was suppose to already be away on another work trip but the start time was delayed by a few hours so I was able to see this little guy on his birthday!!!!

Before bed last night, I was a hot mess with tears in my eyes while tucking him in. My emotional and observant son immediately noticed that I was a little sad and he asked what was wrong... and I told him that Mommy was just thinking that this was the last time that I would be putting him to sleep as a three year old and that he would never be three again... BIG MISTAKE! He started crying hysterically saying that he wanted to stay his age and that he wasn't going to go to sleep. After about twenty more minutes and three more books he was finally calm and ready for bed... he probably milked that a little but I was happy to sit criss-cross apple sauce on the floor in their room with my two little guys snuggled on my lap. It was also a reminder that my belly is growing and that soon we probably will not be able to sit like that... #allthemomtears ... Who cares about bed times in those moments!

Some Birthday Monsters came by for a visit last night and decorated his door. Also, Elmo, Olaf, and a few other friends were on hand this morning for a birthday surprise... The balloons that they brought along were a HUGE hit!

So happy that I was able to celebrate this morning and I cannot wait for Hunter's Monster Party on Saturday!

Hunter's 3rd Birthday Party!!! REPTILES

For Hunter's third birthday party we settled on a reptile theme and boy did he LOVE it!

Most of the food was located in our dining room

Complete with an Alligator piñata to watch over the food. the Alligator was perched on a branch from our yard that I tied up with twine.

Some food highlights would be the amazing Watermelon turtle that my dad carved. I placed him on some graham cracker and Oreo crumbs so that it looks like the beach. Complete with chocolate rocks

These adorable grape and strawberry snakes. By the start of the party the eyes had melted a bit (they were icing)... The snakes were arranged on a wood slice.

a snake sub

Smashed lizards (guacamole)

Bug Wings

as well as other fruits and nuggets from, the always yummy, chick-fil-a...

The centerpiece of the food table was the birthday cake.

The cake was purchased from a local bakery. I just asked for a yellow triple layer cake with chocolate frosting... VERY plain. I added the chocolate rocks and a little plastic frog to personalize it for the event.

We also had a dessert table... Hunter made the decorations

There were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes (store-bought) and I simply added mini plastic frogs and turtles to the top.

here is a better close-up

We had worms and dirt... on another wood slice

Lizard tails

Snake brownies... on some graham cracker crumbs

Love the banner that matched our invitation for the event!

As the little guests arrived they had a blast playing on the jumper...

and once all the kiddos arrived we headed down to our basement for a reptile show... I wish that It hadn't rained all morning and that we could have done the show outdoors but it all worked out in the end.

I loved that Reptiles Alive made the show so interactive!

Hunter would NOT touch the big snake!

At the end of the show they made Hunter an honorary Reptile Ranger!

After the show the kiddos got to go outside to decorate some snakes of their own.

And bow out the candles on Hunter's birthday cake!

Hunter has been practicing his candle blowing skills for about a month now... so we lit the candles a second time and had him blow them out again!

At the end of the event the kiddos all received party favors...

Big kiddos received a bug catching kit and the smallest attendee (almost 4 months old) received a stuffed alligator and a book...
