New desk area

One of the first areas that I wanted to tackle is the desk space....

Matt got Emma a super powered computer for her birthday this year and it has been down in our play room on an old desk.

The space was a DISASTER. Here were the negatives:
  • Desk didn't have enough surface space.
  • The style of the desk is not what we were envisioning for the space. Too formal
  • The legs on the desk forced us to turn the "computer box thing" (yes that is the official term) on its side and I feel like it does not properly hide the cords
  • No leg space under the desk.
So I purchased the extremely economical

Next I taped off the legs with some frog tape that I had on hand...

I applied navy spray paint to the legs and the drawer to give the desk some personality and here she is now...

I love her!Not only do I love the added color but also that the keyboard and mouse are tucked away in the pull out drawer. This makes the desk top look much less cluttered and there is now enough room on the top of the desk so that Emma could do homework here now.

Now that this is also going to be a "homework station" I went to Pinterest to see what I should do with all that empty space above the desk...

Here are some images that I found for inspiration:

 Also, LOVE this caddy!

Basment Playroom: Before!

So  goal on my August list was to Declutter and work on my basement... This space is actually a play area for the kiddos and a space that I have been wanting to show some extra love to for a while now.

Here is what we are working with...

Yeah... not exactly my dream space for the kids... here are the areas I hope to tackle:

  • Organization of Emma's Barbie and American Girl Dolls
  • Skis put away... Hello it is AUGUST!!
  • See that big old 60" rear projection TV... yeah Matt MIGHT just divorce me if I cannot get rid of it by the end of the month
  • Back door painted a bright color.
  • Brighter colors
  • Fun artwork
  • Fun light fixtures
  • Updated desk area... Because this is just NOT appealing to me.
  • We have an old coffee table down here that I would like to transform into a play table with Chalkboard paint and craft paper.
  • New rug that is brighter?
  • New pillows on sofa
Ultimately, I would like a bright and fun playroom for the kiddoes.

Atlanta & the World of Coca-Cola

We just got back last night from a trip up to Michigan and I'm recovering from a nasty cold... Nothing beats being sick on your vacation!

So... in loo of a normal post I'm going to share some belated photos from Atlanta in July (When we took Emma down to summer camp).

Emma is such a WONDERFUL big sister and wouldn't let anyone else push Hunter in the stroller.

World of Coca-Cola Museum!

In front of the vault holding the secret recipe.

Emma loved the bottling plant

The family with the big bear!

Nana and Hunter!

4D movie... Hunter was NOT a fan!

Emma's favorite part was the tasting room!!! Where you could try over 60 different Coke products and we tried them ALL...

Beverly from Italy was the WORST!!!

And Emma's first time just trying regular old Coca-Cola

Hunter decided to fall asleep since he couldn't take part in the tastings.

But they were nice enough to still let him become a Happiness Ambassador.

At the end of the tour we each received our own bottle of coca-cola that had been bottled that day in the museum! Hunter even got one and it is sitting on the bookcase in his room.

Of course, We couldn't go home without a polar bear

And a little one for Hunter Man
