Personalized Cheese Dome and a GIVEAWAY!

I'm back for the third week of the "Dare to Do-It-Yourself" challenge hosted by Decor and the Dog, Maybe Matilda, Newly Woodwards, and Two Twenty One!
I shared my my Thankful Tree as a part of the week one "be thankful" challenge and my DIY Christmas plates for the "entertain" Challenge.
This week we were tasked to give handmade... I decided to make a Personalized Chalkboard cheese dome that would be a perfect hostess gift for Christmas parties!
First I started with a basic wooden based cheese dome.. I actually purchased this one from a consignment store for only $2.50. I love the challenge of finding something for super cheap and refinishing or personalizing it! Once I got it home I gave it a good washing and started on my task to take this cheese dome to the next level :)
First I lightly sanded the wood base and broke out the RUST-OLEUM Chalkboard spray paint that I already had on hand.
After a few coats I decided that it still looked a little too plain... so I used some Craft Smart White Acrylic Craft Paint to add a white boarder around the base. I thought that this step made the base stand out a little more.

For the reveal here on my blog I decided that I would add a vinyl P (for Park) to the glass portion of the dome to show the personalization. I made the P using my Silhouette machine and their vinyl. This was actually my first time using vinyl and I found it extremely easy to use!
Once you add a block of cheese to the base and write the type in chalk...
This makes a perfect gift to take to a friends house as a hostess gift this holiday season!

NOW FOR MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!
I've decided to actually give away this cheese dome. The vinyl P is easily removable and I am ready to personalize for the winner. The winner of this giveaway can choose to either get the dome without any personalization OR I will make them their own vinyl letters/name OR I will use the silhouette etching cream to add a more permanent letter/name to the glass dome.
To be entered for this giveaway please leave a comment on this blog between now and Friday 8 p.m. EST. Each comment will count as a submission so feel free to come back and visit throughout the week. We will pick one comment at random and announce our winner on Monday!
GOOD LUCK!

  9. So cute! When I first saw the picture I thought you used glass etching cream to make the initial, but then I realized you used vinyl. Very clever! I'm here from the link party at Two Twenty-One.
