Sewing Station!

I'm so excited to be sharing my new SEWING STATION!

Sewing is a new "hobby" for me and up until now I've pulled all of my equipment/materials from random corners of the house (Nothing was organized) and I would set up my machine on the dining room table.

No longer!!!

Now I have a  nice large wooden table under the window in our spare bedroom!

I love these glass jars (that I picked up last week from Salvation Army. The small jar holds little chocolates and the larger one holds all of my thread! I love seeing all of the pretty colors!

I also love this little shadow box that I popped some photos in from our fall shoot. They are just attached with little push pins for easy updates.

I made a cover for my sewing machine which tucks perfectly under the table... Will share more about this little project tomorrow.

Next to the table we have a basket that holds big fabric remnants

Smaller pieces of fabric are housed in two of the canvas bins in my bookcase... Side note: I still LOVE my pop of color behind the bookcase!!!

So that is my new little sewing home!!! I am so excited that I will no longer need to dig around in multiple rooms to find what I am looking for. I'm also happy that I will no longer need to sew at my dining room table. YAY!!!!

Clean porch!

Yesterday I shared our extremely DIRTY porch with you here...

I am happy to say that with some elbow grease over the weekend we have a spotless porch!

Step one was to clear everything out!

We used the shop vac to get all of the grime out..

After the grime was gone we were just left with a VERY dirty floor...

So we whipped out the soap, hose, heavy bristled sweeper, and the suction attachment for the shop vac.

Here is the space with a few items back inside...

Look at that nice clean floor!

The Keg will go into the basement next weekend (I have to clear out a spot for it...) and I cannot wait to get started on all of the other little projects that I have for this room!!!

Here is my first little project...

See this old IKEA butcher block... It previously had a plastic table cloth on it so we were not wise on what was going down underneath... YES MOLD!!! EWWWW

After A LOT of sanding... Had to take off a ton to really remove the mold. (used a 80 grit paper first and 120 after all the mold was gone to smooth things out)

After sanding we reconditioned the butcher block with mineral oil!Now it is as good as new!!

Updated Screened in porch Mood board

This morning I shared my VERY dirty screened-in porch which is desperately in need of a little love!

I originally pout together this mood board from World Market...

But after some number crunching I realized that these items came out to $ 2132.80 and that was not even including the hardware to hang the curtains, mattress and cover for the day bed, or new ceiling fan... ehhh a little over my budget for the room...which is going to be $1,000 total.

So it looks like it is time to get my DIY on... here is an updated mood board to fit my budget...

Galvanized Shelving Unit, Vivan Curtains, Ottava Pendant light, DIY Daybed, Mirror, DIY Coffee Table, wing back Chairs, Ceiling Fan

The great Wing back Chair was about the only that stuck... Time to get busy!!!

Project Screened in Porch...

A few weeks ago I shared my DREAM mood board for my screened in porch for if I had an unlimited gift card to World Market...

Now for the sad reveal of what we are working with... Please keep in mind that the spring does a number on this space! Between pollen and muddy puppy feet the room is a disaster! It had also turned into my project room when I refinished the dresser for our spare bedroom so there was sawdust EVERYWHERE!

A MESS!!!

Muddy muddy puppy paws!!!

Matt's beloved keggerator... with heaters piled next to it... We have not used this thing in over a year... Needs to be cleaned out and moved down to the basement.

Random bar ware. Tons of beer glasses and pitchers that need a home... They had been stacked out here for a party and pretty much forgotten about.

This is what we are dealing with in terms of lighting... ONE SMALL pod light! and a ceiling fan that has seen better days!

The blades are so warped that I do not thing that this thing does any good!

First things first this girl needs to CLEAN!!! Which I did over the weekend... Back tomorrow to share my nice clean slate!

Back later today with some screened-in inspiration and an updated mood board with some DIY projects!

The stools have landed!

I am so excited to say that the new stools that I purchased yesterday and blogged about here... are tucked under the counter and ready for use!

Here is that before photo!

and here is the same view with our new lovely stools...

I LOVELOVELOVE!!!

Matt... Hates... but I will win him over! I think that we need some pendant lights and window treatments before he can fully see my vision!!!

Here is a little preview of what is in my head!

Hunter: 35 Weeks

Little guy turned 35 weeks yesterday and he has had a busy week!
  • Second time that he was without his mommy overnight. (Had a work trip to Germany) Hunter did GREAT and my mom and Matt did such a great job taking care of the little man.
  • Hunter's Grandma Pam (Matt's mom) is here to visit! She had not seen Hunter in person since Thanksgiving!
  • He is still an amazing eater! Last night we went out to a restaurant and he literally ate a little bit of each entree. I mean what 8 month old has fish, steak, duck, beets, sweet potato, and salad in one night?
  • Loves to stand up at the coffee table and play with his toys.
  • Celebrated the first Mother's Day (outside of belly)... I had a wonderful brunch and received a beautiful Stella & Dot Charm necklace with the birthstone of my two kiddos!

Unexpected seating changes!

Yesterday I walked into Salvation Army with Emma and Hunter and I instantly fell in love with 5 beautiful wood and Iron Bar stools!

A day later and I STILL couldn't get these bar stools out of my mind! I started looking on-line and I found this stool on ebay which look look exactly like my thrift store chair!!!
But WTF.... $125 for ONE???? My thrift store chairs were $25.00 each...

I also found similar ones here and here.

AHHH I couldn't get them out of my mind... I HAD TO HAVE THEM!!!!!!

I was so worried that these beauties would be gone that I scooped them up while I was on a work errand in the same area! I didn't even want to risk that they might be gone before I got off from work!

Here I am fingers crossed that they were still available...

And they were there...

Bonus: Wednesday is Customer Appreciation day at our Salvation Army and all items are 25% off! This means that I purchased all FIVE chairs for only $98.39 that is under $20 each!!! SCORE

I cannot wait to get them home and put them at the bar! As a reminder... this is what we are currently working with:

Two different stools! The horror! Two are from IKEA and the others are great and solid (came with the house) but it has bothered me for over two years that they do not match! I'm going to try to sell them on CraigsList... If anyone is interested just let me know!
